The Cross I: The Curse and the Serpent
"Adam, where are you?"
(The gentle voice said)
"I heard that you were coming,
I was afraid
I was left unclothed"
(He replied)
"Who told you?
Who told you that?
Have you eaten the fruit
From that forbidden tree?"
(Said the One)
"The companion You gave me,
Yes, the one you created to help me
Has convinced me to eat!"
(Replied the man)
"Is that so? Did she truly?
Do you realize you have
Sinned against me?"
(The One inquired)
"The serpent told me to do it!"
(Cried the woman)
"What serpent? Where is he?"
(Replied the Almighty
She showed Him the
Newly-crowned enemy of man)
"From this day forth
You shall crawl and
You shall meddle in the dust
Forever!
Man will kill you
And you will kill him"
(Shouted the One)
"What shall you do with us?"
(The two stated in union)
"Women shall henceforth
Have pain when bringing life
You shall love your husbands
And they will reign over you."
"Man shall henceforth
Work for their lives
For your lives
Until you return to dust."
(Declared the One)
Until one day,
Man shall have
To give pay
Until God saves.
