The Cross II: Tears of Adonai
[Intro]
I look outside, and see the rain
I hear the serene sound of it flowing...
What silence without the birds' crowing!
I wonder if rain is a display of pain?
[Chorus]
A revelation came upon me that rain is the tears of God!
A tear for the age, a tear for a lost soul,
A tear for every time one rejects His love.
But when rain sends a flood, it also sends a dove:
See, the One never surrenders loving control!
[Verse 1]
A man once broke the law and I AM.
(In bittersweet ignorance, he killed the Lamb)
He stretched the boundary and pushed on anyway,
(Now he has nothing but excuses to say)
Even after the wisest words of the Faithful and True,
(Ignorant, he ran forth into the faded blue)
Truth rang through his mind: he hurt the One who never lied.
(Heaven shook as the Sacrifice shook His head and cried)
And when he had finished his deed, he gazed out to see the tears of God.
[Chorus 1x]
[Bridge 1]
But life has shown that pain can lead to growth.
As the tears of Adonai fall to earth,
The man remembered the Sovereign's oath:
"I will never leave you, I won't forsake you... (*whispered*) I love you"
As the man fell to his knees under the tears, he cried out
"My Lord, what have I done?!
I've hurt you, you're crying, how can I fix this?"
In an instant, out came the Son:
What glory and splendour come forth!
The gentle warmth of the True North came forth!
And a gentle voice spoke to him as the tears dried:
"You broke my heart and turned your back on me...
But I still love you, I want you to be mine!"
[Small guitar solo or instrumental bit- undecided]
[Verse 2]
The era of darkness has befallen on creation
(As the One looks down in great contemplation)
Every one of them has gone astray
(And the shadows roll faster every day)
An era to rival the times of His peoples' exile
(Hatred and pain, fear and death beguile)
This once-grand design has reduced to rubble.
(As the pompous monuments of man crumble)
And now we see the fingers of Darkness creeping,
(Faith through the storm, don't conform, while Teacher is sleeping!)
[Chorus 1x]
[Verse 3]
A man dies alone on the streets today.
(The calling of the Christian, we betray)
He never heard the name of the Savior.
(And we're the ones going out with His favor!)
This man passed from freezing cold to searing hot
(Because we're abandoning what we've been taught)
With the ones bearing the truth passing him by
(Do you now see why the Creator cries?!)
A lost soul could've been found, but we've pummeled him to the ground!!
[Bridge 2]
Because we've gone astray, the Son of Man sheds tears.
The first since Calvary, for He sees what we've done.
He could take our burdens, pains, guilt, shame, and fears,
But we've kicked sand in His face, and blocked the Son.
When and from whom did we receive the throne?
By our pride, do we commit grievous murder.
The father of lies never complies, so we reap what we've sown.
The trickster pushes us to increase our own fervor!
[Chorus x1]
